MET Group and Shell Ink New US LNG Supply Agreement
MET Group and Shell have signed a new long-term LNG purchase agreement, expanding their existing partnership in the US liquefied natural gas (LNG) market. Under this deal, Shell will supply MET with LNG from its US portfolio over multiple years, further strengthening MET's access to flexible US LNG supply.
This new agreement is part of a growing strategic relationship between the two companies. In July 2024, they signed a 10-year free-on-board LNG purchase agreement, securing long-term access to US LNG and enhancing MET's supply diversification strategy. The latest deal also follows a memorandum of understanding signed in February 2026, which aimed at exploring additional LNG supply and trading opportunities to boost Europe's energy security.
MET Group CEO Huibert Vigeveno emphasized the importance of reliable access to US LNG for their customers, saying: 'Customers are at the centre of everything we do, and reliable access to US LNG strengthens our ability to provide greater flexibility and value across European energy markets.'
