MET International, the trading and wholesale division of Switzerland-based integrated energy company MET Group, has reached a long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) agreement with United Kingdom-headquartered Shell.

The arrangement is intended to reinforce Europe's energy security through LNG sourced from the United States. Under the sale and purchase agreement, Shell will provide MET with LNG from its U.S. portfolio across a multi-year period.

Huibert Vigeveno, CEO of MET Group, said that customers are central to the company's work and that reliable access to U.S. LNG strengthens its ability to provide greater flexibility and value across European energy markets.
