METLEN has signed a five-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement with PETRONAS, a Malaysian energy company. The deal aims to diversify energy supplies for Greece and strengthen energy security in Southeast Europe.

The agreement was made through PETRONAS' subsidiary PTUK, which will deliver six LNG cargoes per year from PETRONAS' Atlantic portfolio starting in 2027. This will amount to approximately 0.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually.

METLEN expects the additional source of LNG to improve procurement flexibility and resilience, supporting customers in Greece and the broader Southeast European market.

PETRONAS sees this agreement as expanding its LNG presence in markets west of the Suez Canal, particularly Europe and the Mediterranean. The partnership could also provide a foundation for additional collaboration between METLEN and PETRONAS.
