Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum hosted her morning press conference on August 4, 2026. She addressed several key issues affecting the country, including support for agriculture and corn producers. The government has agreed to provide nearly $262 million to over 26,800 farmers in Sinaloa to help offset the recent decline in corn prices.

The President also signed a decree aimed at strengthening transparency and public access to information. This includes eliminating discretion over what information is released, expanding the release of public sector contracts and data from Pemex and CFE, and requiring media outlets to adhere to a code of ethics and have an audience ombudsman.

Sheinbaum emphasized that this move will reduce bureaucracy and increase transparency. Additionally, guidelines for media outlets are being reviewed, which would require them to distinguish between advertising, information, and opinion. The President stated that the government has never censored anyone and does not intend to do so.
