Mexico's Small-Scale LNG Breakthrough: Efficient, Cleaner, and Faster

Mexico's natural gas transport network is concentrated in historical corridors, making it difficult to extend high-pressure pipelines into new regions. This can take five to eight years from project approval to first molecule delivered.

Small-scale LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) offers a solution by packaging and moving natural gas at low-capacity terminals, transporting it in liquid form via cryogenic tank trucks or ISO containers, and regasifying it at satellite stations near the end user.

This approach is different from large-scale LNG exports to Asia, which require long-term contracts and large port terminals. Small-scale LNG is a domestic distribution business with flexible logistics and industrial customers as its target market.
