MGL CNG Prices Hike: Mumbai to Pay Rs 88 Per Kg from September 1
Mahanagar Gas (MGL) has increased its CNG prices by Rs 2 per kg, effective from midnight on September 1. This decision comes in response to a rise in input costs due to the Middle East tensions. The new price of Compressed Natural Gas will be Rs 88 per kg in and around Mumbai.
The company cited 'significant demand' for CNG and noted that a major portion of its input gas is met through imported spot RLNG, where prices are higher. As a result, the price hike will only partially offset the rising cost of input gas.
In addition to the CNG price increase, MGL has also hiked domestic PNG prices by Rs 1 per SCM (Standard Cubic Meter). This change affects around 30 lakh domestic consumers. The move comes days after Indraprastha Gas, serving the national capital region and surrounding areas, increased its CNG prices.
