MGL Converts Maharashtra Village to 100% Piped Natural Gas

Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) has achieved a significant milestone by converting Ashiv village in its Latur Geographical Area to 100% Piped Natural Gas (PNG), making it Maharashtra's first LPG-free PNG village.

The initiative, which was formally commemorated on August 20, 2026, involves the establishment of PNG connectivity for 1,050 households in Ashiv, enabling families to shift completely from cylinder-based cooking fuel to piped natural gas.

MGL's Chief Executive Officer, Yadnesh Dhuri, said that the achievement demonstrates the company's ability to extend city gas infrastructure into rural areas while maintaining urban discipline and taking into account local needs. He also stated that the Ashiv model could be replicated across other villages in the Latur GA and MGL's operating areas.
