MGL Hikes CNG Prices by ₹2/Kg in Mumbai Amid Middle East Crisis
Mahanagar Gas (MGL) has increased Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) prices by ₹2 per kg and domestic piped natural gas (PNG) rates by ₹1 per standard cubic meter (SCM) in Mumbai. The new CNG price is ₹88 per kg, effective from midnight on September 1.
The price hike is due to higher input gas costs linked to international indices caused by the ongoing Middle East crisis. MGL said that a significant portion of its input gas for the CNG segment is being met through imported spot Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG), which has led to higher prices.
The price increase will only partially offset the rising cost of input gas and ensure continued supply of CNG to customers. MGL's supply network serves 13 lakh CNG vehicles in Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Latur, Dharashiv in Maharashtra, and Chitradurga and Davangere in Karnataka.
