Michigan Farm Hikes Sweet Corn Prices Amid Rising Costs

Reese Farms in DeWitt Township, Michigan has increased its price for sweet corn this season due to rising costs. The farm's owner, Robert Reese, explained that fuel, fertilizer, seed, and insurance expenses have all gone up, forcing him to raise the price from $9.00 per dozen to $9.50 per dozen.

Despite the increase, customers are still flocking to the farm, and Reese is grateful for their support. 'It's a delicate balance,' he said, 'and we would like to make enough so we can do this again next year.' The extra revenue will help keep the farm sustainable for future seasons.

Reese emphasized that growing sweet corn is not cheap, requiring both time and labor. He expressed his appreciation for customers who continue to visit the farm, saying 'It's just a tremendous feeling to look out and the driveway's full, and the corn is leaving about as fast as we can pick it.'
