Michigan Gas Prices Inch Up Ahead of Labor Day Weekend
Gas prices in Michigan have increased by one cent since last week, averaging $4.17 per gallon, according to AAA-The Auto Group. This is 11 cents less than a month ago and 84 cents higher compared to the same time in 2025.
The national average price of gasoline has decreased by three cents from last week to $4.01, while the price in Detroit is about $4.14 per gallon, down a nickel from last week, according to GasBuddy's survey of 1,734 stations in the city.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said, 'Average gasoline prices fell in slightly more than half of states over the last week while diesel declined in roughly half, as oil prices moved lower and offered some modest relief at the pump.'
De Haan also noted that the ongoing developments between the U.S. and Iran and continued Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries will continue to exert outsized influence on global fuel markets.
