Michigan Gas Prices Soar to Record Highs Amid Global Market Volatility
Gas prices in Michigan have seen a significant increase over the past week, according to data from AAA. The average cost of regular gasoline has risen by 20 cents since last week and now stands at $4.32 per gallon. This is a $1.04 increase compared to the same time last year.
Meanwhile, diesel fuel prices have also surged across the state, reaching an average of $6.15 per gallon on Monday. This is just shy of Michigan's record high of $6.20 set in May.
In the metro Detroit area, regular gas prices reached as high as $4.31, a 22-cent increase from last week. AAA spokesperson Adrienne Woodland noted that 'Michigan drivers are seeing a significant increase at the pump... This sharp increase underscores the ongoing volatility in global oil markets and serves as a reminder of how quickly fuel prices can shift.'
Prices vary across different regions in Michigan, with Ann Arbor, Jackson, and Lansing experiencing some of the highest average gas prices. In contrast, Traverse City, Flint, and Metro Detroit have seen relatively lower prices.
