Michigan's gas prices have surged in recent days, reaching $4.21 per gallon on average, according to GasBuddy. This is a significant jump from just one week ago, when prices were 9.1 cents lower at $4.12 per gallon.

The state's current price is also $1.13 higher than it was this time last year, with the record high for Michigan being $5.21 a gallon in 2022.

GasBuddy's Patrick De Haan explained that rebounding oil prices are driving up prices nationwide, citing the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and ongoing Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries as key factors.
