Middle East Attacks Send Oil Prices Soaring Past $100
Oil prices surged past $100 per barrel for the first time in almost six weeks due to attacks on oil facilities and ships in the Middle East.
The price of Brent crude, the international standard, jumped 2.4% to $100.29 after settling at $97.89.
US benchmark crude also rose by 1.9%, reaching a price of $94.77 per barrel.
The attacks on oil facilities and ships in the Middle East are threatening to disrupt an already weakened supply chain, which can lead to higher prices for gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel.
