Middle East Conflict Drives Diesel Prices to New Highs
Geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East have disrupted global oil supply chains, causing U.S. diesel prices to surge sharply. California diesel prices have broken the $7 per gallon mark for the second time this year, rising by 37% compared to the same period last year.
The current price of $7.09 per gallon in California is a significant increase from the historical peak of $6.95 per gallon reached in April, and more than double the $3.38 per gallon seen in 2022.
National diesel prices have also increased, reaching an average of $5.50 per gallon, up by 40 cents in the past month and $1.81 higher than the same period last year.
Industry experts warn that rising diesel prices will have a ripple effect on inflation across the U.S., as diesel is a key energy source for industry, logistics, and agriculture.
