Middle East Conflict Drives Idaho Gas Prices Skyward
Gas prices in Idaho have surged to nearly $4.82 per gallon, driven by conflict in the Middle East that has limited crude oil shipments.
The average price of gas in the Gem State is 20 cents higher than a week ago and 40 cents more than a month ago, according to AAA Idaho.
Twin Falls is currently seeing the highest prices at $4.89 per gallon, while Coeur d'Alene has the lowest at $4.66.
Idaho ranks seventh in the country for highest gas prices, with national averages reaching $4.32 per gallon - a 17-cent increase from last week and 25 cents more than a month ago.
The conflict in the Middle East has severely limited crude oil shipments through key straits, including the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
Drone attacks have also shut down Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline, further compounding the issue.
