Middle East Conflict Escalates as Houthis Attack Saudi Cities

The ongoing Middle East conflict has escalated significantly as Yemen's Tehran-backed Houthis launched attacks on several Saudi cities, injuring over 70 individuals and setting oil installations ablaze.

The attacks mark a notable intensification of the six-month-old war, with concurrent reports emerging of explosions on Kharg Island and near Jask in Iran. The Tasnim news agency reported that a U.S. missile struck an Iranian tanker, approximately four miles from Kharg Island, but no casualties were reported.

The renewed conflict has sent global oil prices soaring, impacting the Middle East's energy supplies. The U.S. Treasury sanctions aimed at impeding Iran's aviation capabilities have further exacerbated the geopolitical standoff between the U.S. and Iran over crucial sea routes like the Strait of Hormuz.
