Middle East Conflict Sends Oil Prices Soaring, Bonds Tumbling
The ongoing conflict in the Middle East has sent oil prices soaring, while bond yields have plummeted. The turmoil has led to increased tensions and uncertainty in global markets, causing investors to flock to safe-haven assets like gold.
Oil prices have surged due to concerns over supply disruptions and potential sanctions on major oil producers. Brent crude futures rose 3% to $75.50 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures climbed 2.5% to $69.10 a barrel.
In contrast, bond yields have declined as investors seek safer investments. The yield on the 10-year US Treasury note fell to 1.52%, its lowest level since August.
