Middle East Conflict Sparks Price Hike for Northern Ireland Gas Customers

Firmus energy, one of Northern Ireland's largest gas suppliers by volume, has announced an 8.98% price hike for its Ten Towns customer base, including Derry and Limavady, due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

The tariff increase will take effect from October 1, with customers facing an extra £7 per month on their average bill.

Sharleen Winning, Head of Regulation at firmus energy Supply, said that despite holding off as long as possible, the company had no choice but to raise prices due to the rising cost of gas on global markets.

The conflict in the Middle East has disrupted oil and gas flows through key trade routes, resulting in a significant increase in global oil and gas prices.
