Middle East Supply Risks Persist Amid Ongoing Oil Price Volatility
Oil prices have eased slightly but remain above $100 a barrel for the first time since mid-May, due to ongoing supply disruptions and heightened concerns over shipping risks in the Middle East.
The international benchmark Brent crude futures for November delivery are trading at $105.87 a barrel, down 1.6% from the previous close of $107.63, while US benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures for October delivery have decreased by 1.3% to $101.10 a barrel.
Analysts note that despite meaningful volumes still moving through the Strait of Hormuz, flows remain well below pre-war levels, underscoring the fragility of the situation.
The latest developments include reports that Middle Eastern foreign ministers are seeking a temporary arrangement with Iran to facilitate shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, and Yemen's western coast has witnessed rapid military advancements, adding to concerns over shipping through the Red Sea.
