Middle East Tensions Drive Brent Crude to Near $100
The Brent crude oil price has surged to $99.22 per barrel after a series of attacks in the Middle East led to increased tensions and disrupted oil supplies.
The situation escalated on September 8 when Houthi rebels attacked several cities in Saudi Arabia, prompting US troops to strike Iranian oil tankers, which in turn led to Iran attacking a US military base in Jordan and several ships.
Analysts warn that the rising oil price could lead to increased inflationary risks, especially in Asia, as many countries in the region heavily depend on imported energy resources.
A key factor contributing to the surge is the rerouting of Saudi Arabia's oil exports to bypass the Strait of Hormuz, which has been repeatedly targeted by attacks. However, if these attacks continue, it will be increasingly difficult for the country to ensure stable oil supplies to the global market.
