Middle East Tensions Drive Oil Prices Above $100
Global oil prices have seen a significant surge in recent days due to escalating tensions in the Middle East. The Brent crude futures price rose by $4.19 to reach $105.40 a barrel in international trading, exceeding the $100 threshold for the first time since July 24.
The increase is attributed to concerns over supply disruptions linked to ongoing tensions in the region. Analysts have warned that oil prices could rise further if the conflict expands or major disruptions occur to oil transportation from the Middle East.
US West Texas Intermediate crude also gained $4.53, reaching $100.58 a barrel. This marks a 25% increase since the beginning of last month, reflecting growing concerns in global markets about the security of oil shipments from the region.
