Middle East Tensions Ease, US Stocks and Oil Prices React
Market tensions in the Middle East have eased after the US and Iran paused their attacks. This development has led to a mixed close on Wall Street, with some indices showing slight gains while others decline.
The S&P 500 barely changed Monday, ending up less than 0.1% after two straight weekly losses. In contrast, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.5%, driven by its constituent stocks. However, the Nasdaq composite fell 0.2%, weighed down by Nvidia's 5% drop.
Oil prices also reacted to the reduced tensions, with Brent crude falling 6.3% to settle at $85.87 per barrel after reaching a high of $102 last week. Treasury yields declined in the bond market as a result.
