Middle East Tensions Escalate Over Syrian Strike and Arrest Warrant
The Middle East remains tense as Israel and the US engage in a war of words over the recent strike on Syria. Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz condemned US ambassador to Turkey Tom Barrack for criticising the strike, claiming that Israel had passed on intelligence information to the authorised parties in the United States before the strike.
Katz wrote on X that Barrack's comment was 'full of inaccuracies and positions that contradict the stance of US President (Donald) Trump himself regarding the Golan Heights'.
The incident has fueled tensions between Israel and Turkey, with Ankara seeking an international arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the interception of an aid flotilla bound for Gaza. Netanyahu's office accused Turkey of hypocrisy.
Meanwhile, Iran has granted permission for several Iraqi oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz following repeated requests from Baghdad.
