Middle East Tensions Fuel Crude Oil Price Surge
Crude oil prices have been rising due to escalating tensions in the Middle East. The United Arab Emirates announced it will suspend all financial and economic transactions with Iran, following recent missile attacks. This move has led to increased concerns about the stability of the region.
The Strait of Hormuz, a key shipping route for crude oil, is still experiencing slow traffic. US President Donald Trump stated that no talks are taking place with Iran, but also claimed that the Strait remains open. However, Iran disputes this claim, saying it is still shut down.
Crude futures rose as a result of these developments, with Brent settling at $91.62 a barrel and US West Texas Intermediate rising to $85.83 a barrel. Both benchmarks reached their highest levels since July 24.
