Middle East Tensions Fuel Oil Price Rise Amid Fed Decision
Tensions in the Middle East are escalating as US forces attacked Iran on Wednesday. Oil prices have risen, with Brent climbing 2.09% to $92.64 a barrel and US West Texas Intermediate up 1.46% to 85.66.
The Federal Reserve kept interest rates steady at 3.5%-3.75%, despite rising inflation. Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh described the decision as a 'family fight', saying 'I asked for a good family fight, and I got one. That's the purpose. That's the design feature.'
The decision has led to speculation that rates may remain unchanged at the next meeting, with CME FedWatch showing a 45% chance, up from 25%. Analysts have criticized Warsh for lacking reasoning in the decision.
