Middle East Tensions Fuel Oil Revenues in Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan
A recent report by Moody's suggests that ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East could lead to increased oil revenues for Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.
The agency notes that rising energy prices enhance export revenues for these countries, strengthening public finances and supporting national economic development initiatives.
Additionally, the report highlights the importance of alternative energy and trade routes due to shipping risks in the Strait of Hormuz, making the Middle Corridor passing through the Caspian region and the South Caucasus more relevant.
The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route is expected to benefit from the redirection of global trade flows, but unlocking its full potential will require significant investment and addressing major risks such as Caspian Sea transit capacity constraints and infrastructure bottlenecks.
