Middle East Tensions Send Crude Oil Prices Soaring Above $107
Crude oil prices have surged to over $107 per barrel as tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate. The price of Brent crude for November delivery jumped by 3.20% to reach $107.82 a barrel, while US benchmark West Texas Intermediate for October rose by 3.20% to $103.2.
The increase in oil prices is largely due to concerns over disruptions to global energy supplies, particularly with the recent seizure of key ports by Houthi forces in the Gulf and Red Sea shipping lanes.
Additionally, reports have surfaced that Saudi Arabia temporarily shut its East-West pipeline after drone attacks and a merchant vessel was struck in the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, further raising concerns over security in the region.
