Middle East Tensions Send US Stocks Plummeting, Oil Prices Soar
US stocks continued their downward trend on Tuesday, as tensions in the Middle East escalated, driving oil prices higher.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 1.2% to close at 52,786.07, while the S&P 500 shed 0.6% to reach 7,673.52.
The Nasdaq Composite also dipped, down 0.3% to 26,421.41, as most sectors ended in the red, led by healthcare.
Oil prices rose sharply, with West Texas Intermediate crude jumping 2.4% to $93.71 a barrel, and Brent crude climbing 1.9% to $98.79.
