Middle East Turmoil Drives Up Gas Prices in Philadelphia Region

Rising oil prices and ongoing turmoil in the Middle East have pushed up gas costs for drivers in the Philadelphia region. Oil prices climbed over 3% overnight, topping $108 a barrel for the first time since May.

The national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline reached $4.32, with prices even higher in the Philadelphia area at $4.54 per gallon, according to AAA.

For some drivers, the increased costs are already affecting their household budgets. 'That became a new bill in my life that I didn't have,' said Northeast Philadelphia resident Jamie Lumb. 'I didn't have to count gas money every week.'
