Midstream Operators See Boost in Earnings Amid Strong Gas Exports
Midstream operators have seen significant improvements in their earnings, driven by strong second-quarter results and higher demand for natural gas exports. According to a recent report, over a dozen major midstream companies raised their full-year EBITDA guidance or pointed to the top end of their target ranges following these earnings beats.
One key factor contributing to this increase is the easing of Permian natural gas takeaway constraints earlier than expected, leading to higher throughput across pipeline systems. This has lifted producer volume outlooks and driven up demand for U.S. liquefied natural gas and natural gas liquids exports.
Global supply tightness and geopolitical tensions have continued to fuel international demand for these exports, boosting marine terminal and pipeline volumes. As a result, midstream companies are seeing increased revenue from their fee-based cash flows, demonstrating the defensive nature of their business models.
