Midwest Farmers Urge FTC to Accelerate Fertilizer Probe Amid Rising Prices
As corn harvest begins in the Midwest, farm groups are urging the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to expedite its investigation into the US fertilizer industry. The FTC launched a probe in May 2026 to examine pricing and market concentration.
The Kansas Corn Growers Association, along with 15 other state corn associations, signed a letter requesting further action from the FTC officials.
Vice President of the Kansas Corn Growers Association Brett Grauerholz emphasized the urgency behind the investigation, stating that 'farmers and ranchers have been pushed around enough' and that 'it's time to get answers.'
Grauerholz hopes a successful investigation will reveal the truth about fertilizer prices and lead to enforcement actions against companies.
