Midwestern Commodity Prices See Volatility on August 4
The Chicago Board of Trade reported significant fluctuations in commodity futures prices on August 4th. Corn Futures for September and December both declined by $0.07, closing at $4.42 and $4.65 respectively. Soybean Futures also fell, with September down $0.15 at $11.58 and November down $0.15 at $11.77.
Wheat Futures saw similar drops, with September down $0.13 at $6.38 and December down $0.12 at $6.57. In contrast, Live Cattle Futures rose, with October up $1.12 at $227.85 and December up $1.07 at $227.30.
The price of live cattle increased by 49% year-over-year in the United States, according to Ontario Pork Reports. The U-S CME price per hundredweight dropped to $97.26 from the previous day's $98.06.
