Mining Shares Pay Out High Dividends Amid Stronger Commodity Prices
Several ASX mining shares will pay out dividends this week after reporting higher earnings due to stronger commodity prices. This season, many miners have declared increased dividend payments, with some paying their largest final dividend in four years.
BHP Group Ltd (ASX: BHP) is one of the largest miners on the ASX and recently declared a 99 US cent final dividend for FY26, which translates to a 72% payout ratio. This was a 65% increase from the previous year's final dividend.
This week, nine mining shares will go ex-dividend, including Sandfire Resources Ltd (ASX: SFR) and Mineral Resources Ltd (ASX: MIN). The higher copper price benefited Sandfire Resources, allowing it to declare its first dividend since 2022. Genesis Minerals Ltd (ASX: GMD), which has a maiden dividend this season, also benefitted from an 18% rise in the gold price.
