MISC Secures 10-Year Deal to Ship LNG from Sarawak to Japan
MISC Bhd has secured a 10-year deal to transport liquefied natural gas (LNG) from PETRONAS' facility in Sarawak to Japan. The time charter party contract, signed for a firm period of 2028 and beyond, will see MISC shipping LNG on behalf of Malaysia LNG Sdn Bhd.
The project is significant as it marks the continuation of a nearly 30-year partnership between PETRONAS and Sendai City in Japan. It ensures reliable delivery of LNG to meet the customer's long-term energy needs.
MISC has commissioned Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co Ltd to build a carrier capable of hauling up to 18,700 cubic metres of LNG for the job.
