Missouri Gas Prices Soar as Global Tensions Escalate
Gas prices in Missouri have surged by nearly 20 cents over the past week, with the average price for regular gasoline standing at $3.86 per gallon as of Monday.
This increase is part of a nationwide trend driven by escalating conflict in the Persian Gulf and renewed attacks on shipping in the Red Sea, according to data from GasBuddy.
Nationally, the average price of gasoline rose 10.8 cents over the past week to $4.06 per gallon, while diesel prices climbed 17.8 cents to $5.255 per gallon.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, attributed the increases to a volatile week in global energy markets, citing tensions between the US and Iran, Houthi attacks on shipping, and Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries.
