Mixed Global Cues Fail to Deter GIFT Nifty's Steady Rise
Global markets presented a mixed picture overnight, with US indices closing lower while Asian counterparts showed resilience. The Dow Jones Industrial Average faced significant pressure, dropping over 1%, whereas Japan's Nikkei 225 managed to post gains. Ahead of the trading session, GIFT Nifty indicates a relatively stable opening for domestic benchmarks.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.77% and NASDAQ dropped 0.63%. Asian indices also struggled to hold gains, with Hang Seng down 1.53% and Nikkei 225 down 0.77%. FIIs were net sellers of ₹582.99 crore, while DIIs bought ₹1509.04 crore.
GIFT Nifty is trading at 23488.50, up 0.31%, indicating a potential gap-up opening for domestic exchanges. Despite the broader weakness, GIFT Nifty futures are trading higher, suggesting a positive momentum for local indices. Crude oil prices remain elevated, hovering near $96, which continues to weigh on sentiment.
