MNGL Boosts CNG Network in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Amid Growing Demand
Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) is strengthening its CNG network across Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad to meet rising demand. The company says it's not a citywide shortage, but rather location-specific issues with network hydraulics and pressure availability during periods of high demand.
To address this, MNGL has launched a multi-stage plan to increase CNG supply, including pipeline augmentation, additional gas supply routes, and network pressure improvements. One of the priority areas is Talegaon, where three major projects will collectively add around 3.8 lakh SCMD of gas deliverability.
The company expects these measures to improve pressure conditions in far-end locations currently experiencing supply constraints. MNGL has also seen a significant increase in CNG consumption across Pune, with the number of CNG vehicles rising from 2.62 lakh to over 6.20 lakh and operational stations increasing from 66 to 133.
