Modi Orders Coordinated Response to Protect India's Energy Security Amid West Asia Conflict
India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed a coordinated government response to protect the country's energy security and supply chains from disruptions caused by the ongoing West Asia conflict.
The fourth special meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) was attended by key ministers, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Modi instructed officials to ensure uninterrupted supplies of petroleum products, natural gas, and fertilisers, which are crucial for India's economy.
The government has diversified LPG procurement sources and maintained adequate stocks and supplies of major petroleum products, ensuring that Central Public Sector Enterprise refineries can operate at over 100% capacity.
Modi also directed the establishment of a unified mechanism to monitor developments and implement measures to safeguard citizens and national interests. He emphasized the need for a 'whole-of-government' approach to deal with challenges arising from the crisis.
