Moheshkhali LNG Terminal Resumes Operations After Two-Week Outage

The Moheshkhali LNG terminal in Cox's Bazar has resumed partial operations after a two-week outage due to a technical issue. The terminal, operated by Excelerate Energy, was shut down on June 21st and restarted on July 6th.

Petrobangla Deputy General Manager Engineer Md Shahidul Haque stated that repair work had been completed and the facility is currently operating in observation mode. He added that gas supply to the national grid resumed gradually since early hours of today, with the terminal supplying around 500 million cubic feet of gas.

The resumption of operations has eased pressure on compressed natural gas (CNG) filling stations and residential consumers, with long queues at refuelling stations shortening and gas pressure beginning to return to normal in many areas. An LNG cargo is currently waiting offshore and efforts are underway to berth it at the terminal.
