Moldova Gas Prices Set for Almost 40% Hike Amid Global Price Volatility
The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) has proposed a significant increase in natural gas tariffs for Moldovan consumers, responding to rising global market prices.
The draft decision suggests raising the price of gas supply to household consumers from 13.353 lei per cubic meter to 18.798 lei (excluding VAT), which is lower than Energocom's original request of 19.38 lei.
Energocom cited external factors, including geopolitical events in the Middle East and regional security tensions, as causing a significant change in the cost of purchasing natural gas, leading to price volatility and higher procurement costs.
The current regulated prices were set with a weighted average purchase price of 404.24 euros per 1,000 cubic meters for 2026. However, between January and July 2026, the average purchase price reached 423.28 euros and may reach 623.54 euros by the end of the period.
