Moldova Gas Prices Set to Rise by Over 5 Lei Amid Supplier Cost Concerns

Gas prices for household consumers in Moldova are set to increase by over 5 lei. The National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) has proposed a new tariff of 18,79 lei per cubic meter, excluding VAT. This would be an increase of 40% from the current price of 13,35 lei.

According to ANRE director Constantin Borosan, the current prices do not cover the costs incurred by suppliers for purchasing natural gas, with financial differences accumulating since the beginning of the year reaching tens of millions of lei. The proposed tariff is lower than the 19,37 lei per cubic meter requested by SA 'Energocom'.

Public discussions on the project are scheduled to take place on August 19, ahead of an ANRE meeting where a final decision will be made.
