Moldova Unveils Plan to Ensure Energy Security Ahead of Heating Season
The Moldovan government has outlined a comprehensive plan to prepare for the upcoming heating season. The document, scheduled to be voted on by the Government on September 9, outlines measures to ensure energy security and efficiency.
Natural gas, electricity, and thermal energy operators are required to establish security reserves, assess their infrastructure, and prepare alternative fuel supplies by mid-October and November. This includes procuring natural gas from multiple sources and through diversified supply routes, a permanent measure for holders of supply licenses.
The planning for the liberalization of the electricity market is also underway, with ANRE and supply license holders tasked with negotiating supply contracts with medium and large commercial companies between October 1, 2026, and January 1, 2027.
