Moldova Unveils Winter Energy Action Plan with Stringent Deadlines
The government of Moldova has outlined its comprehensive plan for energy security and efficiency measures ahead of the upcoming winter season. The document, voted on by the Government during a meeting on September 9, outlines specific deadlines and responsibilities for each measure.
The electricity chapter includes the commercial operation of the 400 kV Vulcănești-Chișinău overhead power line, initially promised for the end of 2025 but delayed due to various factors. The document also calls for liberalization of the electricity market by October 1, 2026, and the implementation of emergency plans.
The natural gas chapter highlights the importance of procurement from multiple sources and diversified supply routes as a permanent measure for holders of supply licenses. Additionally, authorities will monitor deliveries and develop contingency measures in case of interruptions to the Transnistrian region's gas supply by December 1, 2026.
