Moldovan Regulator Cracks Down on Compressed Natural Gas Price Hike
Regulatory bodies in Moldova are clashing with TransAutoGaz Ltd, the country's largest operator of compressed natural gas stations for vehicles.
The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) has expressed concern over a recent price hike by TransAutoGaz, citing that it is not justified by current market conditions.
According to ANRE, TransAutoGaz increased methane gas prices starting from January 22, claiming that the move was due to an expected increase in the purchase price of natural gas. However, the agency argues that this argument raises several questions and lacks solid grounds.
The management of Moldovagaz, the founder of TransAutoGaz, attempted to justify the decision by listing various factors affecting the market. ANRE, however, believes that some of these factors have no bearing on the current price structure for compressed natural gas in vehicles.
