Moldova's Natural Gas Tariff May Be Revised Amid International Price Surge
The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) in Moldova is considering revising the tariff for natural gas due to rising international market prices. According to Constantin Borosan, Director of ANRE, if current spot market prices persist at around 82 euros per megawatt-hour, the agency may need to recalculate the tariff.
Borosan stated that ANRE is monitoring developments closely and will review any requests from natural gas suppliers if they adjust their prices accordingly. Currently, household consumers in Moldova are paying a tariff of 20.03 lei per cubic meter of natural gas, VAT included, which represents an increase of nearly six lei compared to the previous price.
The ANRE approved this higher tariff in August, citing rising procurement costs on international markets and the need to cover Energocom's financial variances. The first bills calculated based on the new tariff are scheduled to be issued to consumers in October.
