Montenegro Ties Oil Price Hike to Middle East Tensions

The government of Montenegro has attributed the recent rise in oil prices to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and supply chain disruptions.

This explanation comes from a decision made by the government on July 27, 2026, regarding excise duties on unleaded gasoline and gas oils.

The decision sets new price caps for Eurosuper 98 at 1.81 euros, Eurosuper 95 at 1.77 euros, and Eurodiesel at 1.79 euros, effective from July 28.

To mitigate the impact on citizens and the economy, the government will continue to reduce excise duties on Eurodiesel during the tourist season, with an adjusted level of reduction in accordance with the current decision.
