Montney Natural Gas Formation Hits Production Stratosphere
The Montney natural gas formation in British Columbia and Alberta is considered Canada's economic crown jewel. At an area of approximately 130,000 km², it's roughly two-thirds the size of the Permian Basin in Texas and New Mexico.
With modern technology, The Montney has the potential to produce up to 449 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, making it one of the biggest gas resources in North America.
The formation is experiencing rapid expansion, with projections suggesting that up to 32,000 new wells could be drilled by 2050 to support liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports.
