Morocco Diesel Prices May Soar Past 18 Dirhams Amid Global Fuel Costs

Morocco's diesel prices could surge to over 18 dirhams per liter amid rising global fuel costs, an industry representative warned. Houcine El Yamani, head of the National Front for the Rescue of the Moroccan Petroleum Refinery and secretary-general of the National Petroleum and Gas Union, told Hespress English that international gasoil prices are climbing due to continued volatility in global energy markets and the conflict in the Middle East.

The price of a ton of gasoil on international markets has approached $1,400, El Yamani said. This, combined with geopolitical tensions, is contributing to increased price volatility.

Currently, diesel costs around 11 dirhams per liter before taxes in Morocco. After taxes, the price exceeds 15 dirhams, and distributors' profit margins are added on top.
