Morocco Revives Wheat Imports with Subsidy Amid Global Disruptions
Morocco is set to resume its soft wheat imports after a several-month pause, according to UkrAgroConsult. The country's grain agency ONICL has introduced a subsidy for importers, which will be in effect from September 16 to 30.
The subsidy will be set at 20.80 dirhams per quintal, or about $22.2/t, aiming to help importers offset the gap between international wheat prices and an acceptable domestic price level.
This move comes as Morocco's return to the global market amid disruptions to wheat supplies from the Black Sea region, where exports from Ukraine and Russia remain constrained.
