Mumbai Milk Prices Surge ₹9 Amid Rising Input Costs
The Bombay Milk Producers' Association has increased the wholesale price of buffalo milk in Mumbai from ₹93 to ₹102 per litre, effective September 1. This price hike is expected to remain in place until February 28, 2027.
The association attributed the increase to rising input costs, including a 25% rise in the prices of feed ingredients such as grain, tuvar chuni, and corn. Grass and fodder have also become more expensive, affecting dairy operations.
This is not the first milk price hike this month, with Maharashtra's Gokul cooperative raising its buffalo milk retail price by ₹2 per litre earlier in September. Sugar prices in Mumbai have also risen sharply, jumping from ₹50 to ₹58 per kg in a week.
